Robert Hampson

Robert Hampson was a professor of Modern Literature and former head of the Department of English at Royal Holloway, University of London. He coedited Alembic with Peter Barry and Ken Edwards during the 1970s..His best-known work is Seaport (1995; second edition 2008). In 2001, Stride published his Assembled Fugitives: Selected Poems 1973–1998. More recent publications include an explanation of colours (2010), re-worked disasters (2013) which was long-listed for the Forward Prize, and Sonnets 4 Sophie (2015). He coedited The New British poetries (1993) with Peter Barry. Redell Olsen edited an anthology For Robert on the occasion of his retirement in 2017.
